To Follow, Or Not To Follow…

When it comes to building a web-presence, I’m making a big change. I’m going to start following everybody that follows me- anywhere.

For example, Here’s a shot of my Friendfeed page:

Notice I have 377 subscribers, but only 1 subscription? That’s because I dont’ follow anybody else.

I use Friendfeed to aggregate all my Social Media stuff- it pulls feeds from Twitter, Youtube, Facebook etc,… so it’s a cool “set and forget” way of getting my message out there without me having to do anything…

But if I DID do anything, I could leverage it even better. For example, I get an e-mail every time somebody subscribes. What I should be doing is following them back. That way, when people browse through THEIR account to see who’s following them, they might follow me too.

The same goes for Youtube, Twitter, and every other Social Site. I know that some people argue that it’s better to have more people following them than they are following, because it makes them look more like a “guru.” Well, who cares!

Would you rather “look” like a guru or EARN like a guru?!

So for me, I’m going to mend my ways, and start connecting with everybody that follows me. It’s easy, it’s quick, and it helps me expand my Web Presence that much further.
