Stumbleupon- Cool But Dangerous!
I’m a big fan of Stumbleupon. Not only is it a great social bookmark site, but it’s cool to “stumble” through sites and discover what’s out there. If you’re ever in the mood to do some lazy surfing, Stumbleupon is the way to do it.
Of course, my main interest is in how it helps me build my business, which it does through direct traffic and contributing generally to my whole “web presence.”
But beware! Don’t haphazardly “Stumble” every blog post or site you make, because SU has a downside, literally. People can “thumbs down” your stuff. So if you are using a site like Social Marker to automate your bookmarking process, here’s a tip, don’t include Stumbleupon!
Instead, reserve SU for your very best content, the stuff you’re proud of. Otherwise, you could be voted off the island! Figuratively speaking of course. You don’t lose your account, you just end up looking like a dork.

I agree, sometimes it can really depend on the content. If it is something that is especially humorous, but is somehow tied in, then it might work very well on StumbleUpon. That’s how Superbowl ads earned their own status rights… by having shock value or being hilarious.
I knew some social marketing sites had a “I like” or “I dislike” button for comments and things, but I didn’t know Stumbleupon could actually keep track of all your posts altogether so other people could see exactly how well rated…or not well rated…all of your posts are!
