Is Mobile Marketing The Next “Big Thing?”
There’s a lot of hype around mobile marketing right now. And I’m paying attention, although cautiously. I’m not about to go spend a bunch of money on it yet, but I am optimizing my sites for mobile right now, and exploring aggressive mobile marketing opportunities.
But is it for real, or a bunch of hype? Here’s some stats:
-There are more mobile phones on this planet than cars, phones, credit cards, TV sets, or even computers.
-over 95% of text messages are viewed
-62% of text messages are remembered
-1.15 billion new handsets are sold per year, of which 15% are smart phones (Marketing Fox)
-In 2008, the total number of mobile internet users (1.05 billion) surpassed the total number of PC web users (1 billion) for the first time.
-US women age 12 to 24 spend twice as much time with their cell phones as women 40 and older (if you market to women, pay attention here!)
-70% of Japanese members of social networks access their networks more often from their mobile phones than a PC
-More than 30 million members of Facebook access their account from a mobile device.
And last, but not least (to me!) according to Google analytics, 1.14% of visitors to this blog accessed it through a mobile device. A small number, yes, but a non-existent number two years ago, and I expect it to grow.
So, what is the strategy when it comes to Mobile Marketing? For me, it’s the following:
1. Optmize all my websites for mobile.
2. Use my mobile device more often to access the web, to make sure I understand well the user experience.
3. Study! I’m going to be a serious student of mobile marketing, and implement mobile marketing into my overall marketing strategy.
But I’m not going to bet the farm, or invest too much time or energy, for now, I think Mobile Marketing is for real, but it won’t replace any other marketing strategy, rather, it is simply a new, exciting strategy to add into any marketing mix.

While we’re discussing Is Mobile Marketing The Next “Big Thing?” | The #1 Ranked Online Network Marketing Blog!, As of 2007, internet marketing was growing faster than any other type of media. Exposure, response, and efficiency are easier to track than with traditional advertising methods that are conducted offline. This gives internet marketing much more accountability to advertisers. Marketers and clients are equally aware of the necessity of measuring all marketing effects. This can help them to determine the effectiveness of online advertising on in-store sales. If their sales are increased through the use of online advertising, they will look for other nonconventional ways to market their products and services to the world and will further increase their traffic and profits.
Hi,
I am interested about setting up Mobile Marketing business, any recommendation information or ebook for this topic.
